blackheart is a small jet-black she-cat, sporting piercing golden eyes. her fur is often quite a mess, as she is hardly bothered to maintain her pelt amidst all her thinking.
blackheart is a bit on the skinnier side, never having had much of an appetite as her family or clanmates. blackheart's whiskers are dark enough to almost match her pelt, and her paw pads are a dusty pink color with spots of black here and there. her nose is black.
blackheart has an unusual habit to swing her tail about, and often hits things on accident. thus, oftentimes has healing or opened scratch or scrape wounds on her tail.
blackheart had always been a rather "to herself" sort of cat. she wasn't particularly quiet, but she wasn't an open book, either.
once warmed up to, blackheart can be a helpful companion. blackheart tends to observe rather than interfere in situations, so she always makes her own sort of interpretations of the information provided.
blackheart is, generally speaking, a loyal, observant, and helpful cat who likes to get to the bottom of mysteries. sometimes, she will jump to conclusions to fulfill her hunger for a mystery to solve.
although rare, sometimes blackheart will take a keen interest in a morbid topic regarding death, maltreatment, or misconduct whether it be rumor or fact. the general interest she exhibits often makes other cats uncomfortable, and sometimes blackheart grows to pry for information that does not concern her.

blackheart has never been incredibly close with her family, however she and deadtail are making a mutual effort to form a bond and ease their remaining sister into the idea of repairing their broken family situation.

backstory
kit life
blackheart was born into a litter of 4 other kits; tallkit, ebonykit, deadkit, and coldkit (oldest to youngest). she is the exact middle-oldest.
ebonykit was born still, and aspenfoot grew distraught and delirious, unable to process or handle the fact that a kit of hers had died. the queen had already been known to be impulsive, reckless, and closed-minded. blackheart's mother and a fellow warrior, snailfeet (npc), had made an agreement to secretly claim that the kits were his, but in her delirious episode, aspenfoot admitted the litter was in fact not snailfeet's.
upon the reveal of this information, aspenfoot was exiled due to her track record of untrustworthiness, disobedience, and unstable nature only worsening, and snailfeet was reprimanded. he had died that moon from unknown reasons. blackheart and her siblings were then handed off to another queen to nurse. the litter was quick to get along with other kits, but they never formed a bond with the queen that nursed them; she was resentful of aspenfoot and thus had no interest in bonding with the litter that had been hers.
apprentice life
once apprenticed, blackheart quickly picked up how to hunt and the basics of battle despite her smaller size. she was often jealous of her prodigy siblings, tallpaw; he was a great fighter, and his name had been making rounds in the camp at the time. tallpaw and blackheart's other remaining siblings begun to talk behind tallpaw's back. blackheart refused to become involved. because of this, she had become disconnected with her siblings over time. her siblings seemed to be enveloped in themselves and their drama. explosive arguments between the three siblings was common.
mere days later, tallpaw was selected amongst a group of warriors and a few apprentices to participate in a battle with thunderclan near the thunderpath. blackheart was present and fought by tallpaw's side. the two were doing fairly well together, until a pair of thunderclan cats had separated the two as a strategy. once blackheart had fought off her opponent, she left to return to tallpaw; however, she witnessed his brutal murder in the middle of the thunderpath. mortified, the apprentice was about to run to fight his killer, but she was stopped by a clanmate as a monster had run tallpaw's corpse and killer over. in the same night, blackheart had witnessed her brother's murder and justice.
upon hearing the news when the battle party had returned, deadtail and coldclaw were overcome with guilt. tallpaw's death drove them all apart, and they avoided each other like the plague until moons later at their warrior ceremony. his death was the straw that broke the camel's back. blackheart had learned to cope through the support system of other apprentices, and soon became at peace with the death of her brother.
warrior life
once she had received her warrior name, blackheart had finally felt at peace with herself and her family life. much of the drama and stress had stemmed from her family, and now that contact was minimal, blackheart grew comfortable and able to process it all and focus on her clanmates and other relationships.
the she-cat hadn't particularly closely bonded with anyone, but for some moons she had chit-chatted here and there with some cats. she was on good terms with most of them, but never really made friends out of them.
after getting adjusted to warrior life for a while, blackheart had discovered her morbid interest in mysteries, particularly murders, death, and gathering information on previous cats and their lives or cats in her clan. her hunger for this information led her to create a few connections for information, and would start to engage more in clan interactions and activities. among this period of interacting with her clan much more, deadtail approached her in an effort to rekindle their sibling bond. although hesitant, blackheart agreed and they learned more about each other than they ever had previously. to this day, they are still easing their remaining sister, coldclaw, into the idea of reconstructing their tattered bond.
